About SYFA
PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY
The Shakopee Youth Football Association (SYFA) is a non-profit organization that exists for the purpose of teaching each child the fundamentals of the sport and to provide the framework for the wholesome participation at each child’s playing ability.
- Having fun while learning and being treated with dignity is each child's right and each adult's responsibility.
- We will be team oriented in our approach. In the game of football, the goals of the team and group can only be attained through dedication and commitment of the whole team. Nothing can be accomplished alone.
- Coaches and parents shall stress sportsmanship, team spirit, and developing skills more than winning.
- Coaches and parents shall employ appropriate language and behavior when dealing with impressionable youth.

1ST GRADE FLAG
Days: Saturdays 9:00 AM (also Mondays 6:00 PM in August only).

SYFA Mission & Goals
To offer a quality and well-supervised youth football program that, in a fun environment, will teach values of high-character, sportsmanship, and teamwork, instruct youth on proper football fundamentals, increase the overall football skill levels of all participants, while instilling a lifelong love for the game of football.

What's new for 2012?
In a continuing effort to enhance Shakopee Football, changes for the 2012 season include:
- Separating the 1st and 2nd grade flag levels.
- Bloomington has joined the Southwest Metro Football League at the 6th and 7th grade levels.
- THREE "Gear Day" equipment pick-up dates spread over three weeks. Everyone needs to make one of these to pick up gear.
- Second annual Beef Jerky Fundraiser
- $25 late fee if registering after July 1st (all tackle levels).
- Hard registration cut-off for all tackle levels on July 31st.
- (no late fee or cut off for flag football)
- A common website for the SWML associations (travel levels).
We are also planning to have two additional lighted fields to use for practices and games!
