Shakopee Football History

We are looking to update our website with historical information on Shakopee football. If you have anything you can provide us, please email coreyc.mn@gmail.com. Please include the year(s) with any information. If you have old photos of players, teams, games, we'd love to have some to post.

We have some information like individual records. We are looking for things like uniform and helmet colors/stripes/decals. Also team records, coaches, where the team played games, who they played. Players who went on to play in college - any division II or division I players? Players who've participated in the Mn All-Star game or been chosen to All-Metro teams?

Also, if you have information on the youth program, we'd like that as well - past presidents, grades in flag/tackle, where they praticed and played games, participant numbers, etc. We have some of this, but it is somewhat incomplete.

Thank you!

Corey

Mr. Football Finalist - Dylan Ulferts

As a Mr. Football Finalist, Shakopee’s Dylan Ulferts was selected as one of the top 10 high school football players in Minnesota.  In addition to the Mr. Football finalist, Dylan was also honored as Minnesota Vikings 1st Team All-State, Kare 11 All-Metro, Star Tribune All-Metro, and All-Missota Conference.  Congratulations to Dylan on a fine season and all of the deserving honors!

Nate Carlson - Academic All State

Players are selected for the all-state academic team by a state committee based upon GPA's, difficultly of courses, football ability, and the written recommendations of the coach.  Nate's GPA is 3.85, he is an Eagle Scout and was one of 12 players selected across the state from 5A schools.  Nate was nominated by Coach Stone along with three other Shakopee players (Scott Hauer, Christian Watcher, and Jordan Jacox).

The football team was also selected as an all-state academic team for the third year in a row because we have had such great students as these four.

Congratulations to all the Saber Football Student Athletes.

Saber Makes Sports Illustrated

Trent Pearson, captain of the 2006 Shakopee football team, recently made Sports Illustrated.  On pages four & five in the 11/22/10 issue of Sports Illustrated, Pearson (#43) is pressuring the QB in the Bethel-Augsburg football game.  Pearson made the MIAC All Conference Team in 2010.

Our Boys

"It has been uttered, written, and put on big and small screens countless times how high school football best evokes the innocence and purity of American sports. Stand on a high school football field this time of year and you know why."

Joe Drape - New York Times staff writer and author of OUR BOYS (one of the finest books about high school football you will ever read)
